Hello World!

It’s been a long journey but my site is finally ready enough to share!

I’ve been thinking about starting my own event planning business for almost three years, coming up with ideas, and taking on small projects.

About a year ago, I lost my full-time event planning job.  I was lost for a while and thought seriously about starting this business then.  I could never quite get over my own self-consciousness.  But back in December I decided that I needed to just take a deep breath and jump in to the pool.  I started the long process of designing my logo, my business card, my website.  I hadn’t designed or hand-coded a site in over eight years, so it was slow going (and I’m still tweaking – I probably will be forever).

For anyone who’s never started a business before, it’s thrilling.  But scary.  And so, so complicated.  I never thought it would be so long before I was to this point!  I kept updating my Twitter feed with, “Just a little bit more!” or “My site is almost done!”  But incredibly busy + incredibly picky can be a bad combination.  More than once I redesigned the whole site.  More than once I rewrote everything.  I’m sure I’ll rework it all at least once more this year.

Even so, my motivation and enthusiasm had to win out!  I slowly started telling people about my site, one at a time.  Once the second round of my business cards arrived (long story, but suffice it to say that I’d rather trash the first round than pass them out – and they have an old phone number on them, so they’re useless), I started passing them out.  One by one.  To keep myself accountable.

I want to thank every one of my friends who have helped – and continue to help – me through this process.  Thanks especially to Emilia, Jenna, Cathy (I wish I could have afforded to have your design help too!), and Stephanie, without whose support I wouldn’t be here.

I am so blessed to be at this place in my life.  I’m so excited to be able to share in the lives of such incredible clients.  And I am so pleased to welcome you to my new website!
